The Carnegie shortlist compromises of the very best and latest in children's fiction and is judged by teachers, children and librarians across the country who decide upon the 7 shortlisted texts.
Children are exposed to a myriad of exciting, gritty and gripping literature. The theme of the texts is Human Rights and Civil Liberties this year and pupils will be engaging with this theme for the rest of the year.
This year is the 80th anniversary of the awards and our group meet each week to discuss what we have read and our thoughts and feelings about the texts. The Manchester Academy Carnegie Group contributes to the winner of the awards by discussing and voting on the best text from the shortlist.
