Year 7 Welcoming Day – A Fantastic First Experience

We were delighted to recently welcome our new Year 7 students to Manchester Academy for an enjoyable and memorable Welcoming Day.
The day gave students their first opportunity to experience life at the Academy. They met a range of teachers and staff, explored the school building and facilities, and began to feel confident moving around their new learning environment.

Throughout the day, students completed activities in their Student Passport Booklet, designed to help them settle in while having fun.

Activities included baking Magic Muffins, designing a personal school crest to showcase their interests and passions, and taking part in an exciting STEM workshop, where students worked together to build bridges using LEGO bricks. These sessions encouraged creativity, teamwork and problem‑solving, while giving staff the opportunity to get to know the students better.

It was wonderful to see students so engaged, enthusiastic and supportive of one another. To make the day even better, the weather was especially kind, allowing students to spend quality time outside on the school yard. This gave them a chance to relax, socialise and enjoy the outdoor spaces where they will spend their break and lunchtime throughout the school year.

Overall, the Welcoming Day was a fantastic experience for everyone involved and a brilliant start to our new Year 7 journey.

What’s Next?

We are already looking forward to welcoming our new Year 7 students back for the next stages of their transition:

  • Transition Day – 2nd July
A coordinated day across Manchester where all Year 6 pupils spend the day at their new secondary school.

  • Summer School – w/c 3rd August
A week‑long programme during the summer holidays, including team‑building activities, school trips and much more.

We can’t wait to see everyone again and continue supporting our students as they prepare for an exciting start at Manchester Academy.
