Manchester Academy Parent Newsletter - 15th November 2019

Dear Parents and Carers,

I am writing at the end of a really successful week for Manchester Academy. On Wednesday, we were   visited by two VIP guests – Dame Sally Coates and Dame Yasmin Bergin. These prestigious guests visited lessons and met with an exceptional group of student leaders in Y11, Rukayat, Chris, Mercy, Davies, Haaris, Ismail, Bromwyn and Cerys. The students articulated to our guests the changes and improvements in the Academy and how his has supported them to be successful.

Manchester Academy Parent Newsletter - 8th November 2019

Dear Parents and Carers,

After the deluge of rain, it is clear that Autumn is now turning more wintery. Students have coped well with the horrible weather and are following the Academy rules sensibly in terms of outdoor coats. Y11 have started their ‘Pre-Public Examinations’ (PPEs) and these will help determine their predicted grades for College applications.

Manchester Academy Parent Newsletter - 1st November 2019

Dear Parents and Carers,

Firstly, I wish to reassure parents after a serious incident which happened at the end of a fire drill today. We have had an excellent return to the Academy after half-term and one individual, who behaved in a reckless and dangerous way, will not be allowed to affect this. We will be taking the most serious sanctions against any student who behaves in an unsafe way. Our students are proud of our school and any student who puts the well-being of others at risk has no place at Manchester Academy.

Manchester Academy Parent Newsletter - 18th October 2019

Dear Parents and Carers,

As we come to the end of a hectic but successful half-term there’s a chance for us to reflect upon the progress we’ve made. This week has been particularly special as we hosted our Y11 Parents’ Information Evening and the Academy’s Open Evening. Both these events were well supported, thank you, and gave us a chance to listen to parents’ feedback on our progress.

Manchester Academy Parent Newsletter - 11th October 2019

Dear Parents and Carers,

Another busy week at Manchester Academy, with sports fixtures, a careers fair, Big Tests for Y8 and Y9 and lots of extra-curricular activities. The time given by our fantastic staff and the commitment from our students is impressive.

Next week is the Manchester Academy Open Evening on Thursday 17th October and a reminder that the Academy shuts earlier for students on Thursday at 1.40pm so we can prepare.

Manchester Academy Parent Newsletter - 4th October 2019

Dear Parents and Carers,

The weather seems to have become Autumnal, if not wintry overnight. Please remind students that they can bring a waterproof outdoor coat to school to keep dry and warm but not hoodies/tracksuit tops/sweatshirts. There has been extensive roadworks around the area since the start of term and this has made traffic extremely busy. Students have to take care walking home as drivers are becoming frustrated by the queues and we do not want any accidents, especially as the weather declines.

Manchester Academy Parent Newsletter - 27th September 2019

Dear Parents and Carers,

We are now well and truly into the routines and rhythms of the new academic year and the students of Manchester Academy have made an excellent start. I would especially praise our fantastic Year 7 who have not only navigated the building with skill but have really impressed me with their enthusiasm for learning. Year 11 have begun the demanding final year of education with maturity and determination and we have a student leadership group within that cohort who will go on to change the world. In the middle years, Y8 and Y9 are adjusting to being more senior in the school and the responsibility that brings whilst Y10 now understand the challenges of the new GCSE course which they’ve recently embarked upon. Every student has demanding targets to meet
