It is strange to approach the end of term without the usual celebrations and end of year events. We have enjoyed having Y10 with us over this half-term and the attendance to the online lessons Manchester Academy has offered has continued to be strong.
Our Executive Principal has been awarded a Lifetime Achievement Award for his services to education
Yesterday the Government announced some fantastic news – all students will return to Manchester Academy in September. There will be changes in place to make sure we are all safe, but we will be welcoming all students back and are so excited to plan for the next academic year in a more ‘normal’ way.
Thank you to all our families for supporting the first week of our new online timetable. We have received national attention for being one of the few state schools in the country to be offering such a comprehensive online teaching curriculum for all our students.
This has been a wonderful week for Manchester Academy. The weather’s been grim, but we are seeing small steps towards returning to normality. Shops are open, football is back, and most of all we have had Y10 back in school this week which has been brilliant.
Detailed information on the plan for classroom bubbles for Year 10, starting Monday June 15th, plus Coronavirus restrictions in school.
This has been a momentous week as we prepare to finally welcome some students back into the Academy next week, when Y10 return. This term, the return of students is limited, due to the restrictions placed on schools by the government, but we are confident that Y10 will benefit hugely from having contact with staff and their studies.
I hope you are well and that the change in the weather to a more usual English summer has not affected you too much. Before I come onto Manchester Academy business, I want to express my support for the protests going on around the world following the horrific murder of George Floyd.
We have come to the end of our first half term as a virtual school and, although I immensely proud of the work our staff and students have done to make this work, I am also sad that we have not seen the children at all.
I hope you that you and your families are safe and well? We are seeing big improvements in the numbers of students logging into the Virtual Academy and this is very encouraging.
