Manchester Academy Parent Newsletter - 17th January 2020

This week has been the launch week of our ‘Award Winning Fiction Programme’ and every year group has been getting stuck into their reading book and the feedback has been brilliant. I have been a ‘reading buddy’ for a Y10 form and it’s been great fun to read to them in the morning.

Manchester Academy Parent Newsletter - 10th January 2020

Firstly, a very happy New Year and I hope that the new decade brings everyone linked to Manchester Academy luck, health and prosperity. Although the Academy was closed over the holiday break, our site team continued to work to improve the Academy for our students. This work included the first phase of improving our school yard to make it a nicer place to socialise, painting and decorating and improving the Maths corridor.

Manchester Academy Parent Newsletter - 6th December 2019

Dear Parents and Carers,

This week has reaffirmed to me again how determined our students are to be successful. Y11 finished their first round of Pre-Public Examinations and Y7 and Y10 began their first set of Big Tests. This is a long term but the application of students and their maturity in responding to our academic expectations has been excellent. Across the academy, students have now received their first ‘Star’ badge for ATL – a green badge. Students should wear these badges with pride and look after them – the more ATL badges students collect the more prizes and opportunities will be presented to them.

Manchester Academy Parent Newsletter - 29th November 2019

Dear Parents and Carers,

After what seems like months of rain, we are experiencing a cold spell and students should be safe when travelling to and from school if the pavements are icy. This year we brought in a new mobile phone policy – phones should not be switched on or be seen during the Academy day. This year we brought in a new mobile phone policy – phones should not be switched on or be seen during the Academy day. This has worked extremely well and students have been mature in understanding why we introduced this policy.

Manchester Academy Parent Newsletter - 22nd November 2019

Dear Parents and Carers,

It has been fantastic this week to see the attendance and commitment from our students to the huge range of Extra-Curricular activities that Manchester Academy offers. Attendance at these after school clubs is brilliant and we sent home with all students a booklet which outlines what is on at the Academy every evening.

Manchester Academy Parent Newsletter - 15th November 2019

Dear Parents and Carers,

I am writing at the end of a really successful week for Manchester Academy. On Wednesday, we were   visited by two VIP guests – Dame Sally Coates and Dame Yasmin Bergin. These prestigious guests visited lessons and met with an exceptional group of student leaders in Y11, Rukayat, Chris, Mercy, Davies, Haaris, Ismail, Bromwyn and Cerys. The students articulated to our guests the changes and improvements in the Academy and how his has supported them to be successful.

Manchester Academy Parent Newsletter - 8th November 2019

Dear Parents and Carers,

After the deluge of rain, it is clear that Autumn is now turning more wintery. Students have coped well with the horrible weather and are following the Academy rules sensibly in terms of outdoor coats. Y11 have started their ‘Pre-Public Examinations’ (PPEs) and these will help determine their predicted grades for College applications.

Manchester Academy Parent Newsletter - 1st November 2019

Dear Parents and Carers,

Firstly, I wish to reassure parents after a serious incident which happened at the end of a fire drill today. We have had an excellent return to the Academy after half-term and one individual, who behaved in a reckless and dangerous way, will not be allowed to affect this. We will be taking the most serious sanctions against any student who behaves in an unsafe way. Our students are proud of our school and any student who puts the well-being of others at risk has no place at Manchester Academy.

Manchester Academy Parent Newsletter - 18th October 2019

Dear Parents and Carers,

As we come to the end of a hectic but successful half-term there’s a chance for us to reflect upon the progress we’ve made. This week has been particularly special as we hosted our Y11 Parents’ Information Evening and the Academy’s Open Evening. Both these events were well supported, thank you, and gave us a chance to listen to parents’ feedback on our progress.

Manchester Academy Parent Newsletter - 11th October 2019

Dear Parents and Carers,

Another busy week at Manchester Academy, with sports fixtures, a careers fair, Big Tests for Y8 and Y9 and lots of extra-curricular activities. The time given by our fantastic staff and the commitment from our students is impressive.

Next week is the Manchester Academy Open Evening on Thursday 17th October and a reminder that the Academy shuts earlier for students on Thursday at 1.40pm so we can prepare.
