The summer term at Manchester Academy was one of the most memorable in my time at the school – unfortunately this was not because of the weather which was often damp! In many ways the summer term is dominated by the GCSE examinations processes which now take place over two months.
Over the Spring Term, Manchester Academy was visited by a steady stream of VIPs – from the head of Ofsted, to the Lord Mayor of Manchester. These visits were such positive endorsements of our journey and I am so proud of the numerous Academy students who met our visitors and talked about our school.
The Autumn term 2022 was a momentous one for Manchester Academy. In late September, we had our inspection from Ofsted – a visit that was hugely important for us as a school.
For the first time in three years, we had a ‘normal’ summer term – examinations for Y11 and a chance for all our students to get involved in a wide range of activities which were lost during the pandemic years. This meant that the term was busy and wonderful!
Our Spring term began with concerning news that there was a new variant of COVID, Omicron, and we all worried that this would see a return to more restrictions.
The Autumn Term saw the return of some of the most important aspects of Academy life – sports fixtures and training, extra-curricular clubs and the chance to go on trips and visits again.
It has been a fantastic return to school and the students are thriving with some of last year’s restrictions removed. It is wonderful to have a more normal return to school and we all hope that COVID infection remains low so that our students can fully enjoy all the excitement of Manchester Academy.
