The week started positively with the Year 10 cricket team beating Cowley International College in the quarter final of the Lancashire Plate. They face Unity College in the semi-final which will be played at Burnley Cricket Club on Monday, 10th July we wish them the best of luck!
On Wednesday, our Year 9 softball team represented Manchester Schools in the Your School Games finals. The day started with a fantastic opening ceremony at Sportcity, which our pupils thoroughly enjoyed. We were unbeaten throughout the group stages, progressing to the final against Priestnall High School from Stockport. In a very close game, we came out on top, resulting in us being Softball Champions of the North West. A fantastic achievement!
The vast majority of the victorious Year 9 softball team then went straight to the finals of the Manchester College 7-a-side football tournament. Showing excellent fitness considering the full day of sport they had already took part in we made it to the finals. Unfortunately, we were narrowly beaten 2-1 in the final against Our Lady's Roman Catholic High School.
Today, we welcomed Year 6 students joining us in September for a fun afternoon of sporting activities. It was a tremendous day and the new Year 7 students (from September, 2017) can only have been inspired by the successes of the older students.
Finally, we are very excited about next week’s Sport Week which culminates with Sports Day on Thursday, 13th July. We have our fingers crossed for sunny weather!
