"Duke of Edinburgh is recognised across the country, it's an award that will give you more to offer to future education and jobs. "You need to be determined, dedicated and passionate, and in turn you will get so much more out from the Award."

The Duke of Edinburgh Award, 2014
This year’s Year 10 Duke of Edinburgh Award candidates had their first experience of the outdoors on our annual trip to Ghyll Head on the edge of Lake Windemere.
Last weekend (Friday, 8th – Sunday, 10th February) we took our second group of Bronze pupils out to Ghyll Head, and although we weren’t hit by the snow, a fun and rewarding time was had by all.
On Friday 25th January, 27 pupils from Year 10 arrived at a very snowy and cold Ghyll Head in the Lake District to take part in their training for the Bronze Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.
The second training event of the calendar took place between Friday, 24th February until Sunday, 26th February, with the second Duke of Edinburgh group undertaking their training of map reading skills.
Braving the weather, 28 Year 10 students had a fabulous time at Ghyll Head from Friday, 3rd February until Sunday, 5th February as part of their training for the Bronze Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.
A new initiative in the Sixth Form this year is the introduction of the Bronze Duke of Edinburgh’s Award. Students have started their year with a trip to Ghyll Head OEC, where they relished learning map reading skills and enjoying the beautiful Lake District countryside.
