Music students sing in world's biggest school choir event

Students from Years 7-11 are excited about taking part in a huge school choir concert at the M.E.N. Arena tonight.

A total of 18 students have been rehearsing on Tuesdays after school for the concert, which involves schools from across Manchester.

It has been organised by a company called Young Voices, who stage the largest children’s choir concert in the world.

The students had 17 songs to learn and they have also been rehearsing dance moves, with Bronwyn Bull in Year 9 helping to teach the choreography.
They started rehearsing back in September and they were very excited about performing at the concert with a live band.

Mr Burns has been taking the students through the rehearsals and some of them also took part in a similar concert last year.

Molly Hopkins, Year 11, who took part last year, said: “It was a lot of fun last year so I’m looking forward to taking part again this year.”

Amoya Steer, Year 8, said: “I love to sing and I really enjoy singing as part of the choir.”

Out of the whole group there are only two boys taking part—Chris Thananki, Year 9, and Altamash Saud Adnan Khan, Year 9.

Mr Burns has organised some T-shirts for the choir to wear at the concert.  We wish them all the best and hope the concert is a huge success!

Anyone who would like to join the choir after the concert is welcome to join rehearsals on Tuesdays from 3pm-3.30pm in A6.
