A group of our Y11 students at Manchester Academy recently took part in an inspiring careers event with leading construction company John Sisk & Son Ltd, building on the strong partnership that began during their Y10 Work Experience.
The students first connected with SISK in May earlier this year as part of Manchester Academy’s Work Experience Week. In November, they were invited back to reflect on their experiences and showcase their learning to key members of the organisation and external partners.
During a dedicated Careers Day, the SISK team visited Manchester Academy to deliver a mock interview workshop, giving students the chance to practise essential employability skills and gain valuable feedback. This interactive session helped students understand what future recruitment processes might look like and how to prepare effectively.
Students also learned about the progress of major projects they had previously contributed to, reinforcing the real-world impact of their involvement. The event highlighted SISK’s ongoing commitment to supporting post-16 pathways and careers education, ensuring young people are equipped for success beyond school.
Manchester Academy’s Careers Lead Dr Wisdom said: “Today was a superb opportunity for our students to learn key skills to help them with their employability that they wouldn’t necessarily gain from the classroom. I would like to thank our friends at SISK for sharing their time and expertise to support our young people in giving them some invaluable experience in this area.”
