Manchester Academy welcomed Laura Trott MP, the Shadow Education Secretary, for a special visit as part of her tour with the Manchester United Foundation (MUF).
As a proud MUF partner school, Manchester Academy works closely with the charity to support young people in the local community.
During her visit, Ms Trott met with a group of students involved in the MUF programme. The session was led by the students themselves, who showed confidence, leadership, and a real passion for making a difference.
They asked thoughtful questions about how politicians can support young people—especially around exam stress and helping students who join the UK education system later, often after arriving from another country. They also spoke proudly about their involvement in MA+, the school’s extra-curricular programme, and how it has helped them grow and feel more connected to school life.
Principal of Manchester Academy, Mr Eldon, shared his thoughts on the visit:
“I was incredibly proud of our students. They were intent on making a difference and spoke with real purpose about the changes they want to see in the education system. It’s inspiring to see young people take the lead and speak directly to policy makers. They truly showed what it means to Make Manchester Magic.”
The visit was a fantastic opportunity for students to share their experiences and ideas, and they represented Manchester Academy with pride and purpose.
