BIG Anti-Bullying Award
In Summer 2026 we were awarded the BIG Anti-Bullying Award in recognition of our dedicated approach to ensuring Manchester Academy is an environment where students feel safe and supported.
We were delighted to receive this honour, which is a national award celebrating the best schools in the country.
In presenting the BIG Anti-Bullying Award, Val McFarlane, Director of Bullying Intervention Group, said:
"Manchester Academy is a large and vibrant city centre school which is celebrating national recognition after achieving a prestigious Anti-bullying Award.
The academy has placed student voice and parental engagement at the heart of its anti-bullying strategy, with students and families actively shaping policies, awareness campaigns and support initiatives. One Y9 student commented "Our interventions are wide-ranging and rooted in a culture of diversity, tolerance, and mutual respect."
This school has such innovative strategies, students are involved in decision making and feel part of the MA way. I was so impressed by the Queen Bees, such an impressive way to engage young people and allow them the freedom to be part of the anti-bullying and diversity process.
The award recognises the school's whole community approach, which promotes belonging, celebrates diversity and empowers young people to stand up to bullying in all its forms. This achievement reflects the academy's dedication to ensuring every student feels valued, heard and able to thrive both academically and personally.
I am so pleased to award Manchester Academy with the BIG Award for Excellence in Challenging Bullying, special recognition to the staff, students and parents whose hard work and dedication have made this school a place to be proud of."
