Manchester Academy Welcomes New Year 7 Students

A Warm Welcome at the School Gates

Manchester Academy was full of smiles and excitement as the new cohort of Year 7 students arrived for their very first day of secondary school. At 8.20am, teachers and support staff lined the school gates to give the green tie students a warm Manchester Academy welcome.

First Assembly with the Principal

The day began in the Main Hall with the students’ first ever Academy assembly. Principal Mr Eldon shared his enthusiasm, saying:

“It’s both joyful and inspiring to welcome our new cohort of Year 7 students. We are all excited to see their personalities shine throughout the school year!”

After assembly, the new students were placed into their form groups. This special moment was the first chance to build new friendships and meet their form tutors, who will support them throughout their Academy journey.

Exploring Lessons and School Life

The Year 7s took part in their first lessons and practised the Academy’s fire drill. Both activities gave them a sense of routine and reassurance as they settled into their new surroundings.

One of the highlights of the day was a full tour of Manchester Academy’s impressive building and facilities, designed to support both learning and creativity. Students were introduced to:

  • A £600,000 sports pitch and outstanding sports facilities
  • A fully equipped fitness gym
  • Modern science laboratories
  • A drama studio and auditorium
  • Specialised technology rooms for catering, resistant materials, graphic technology, and ICT
  • A music suite complete with a professional recording studio
  • A well-equipped library and Learning Resource Centre

The tour gave students a first glimpse of the exciting opportunities available to them at the Academy.

An Exciting Start to Secondary School Life

As the day ended, the new Year 7 students left feeling confident and reassured about the week of learning ahead. The successful first day marks the beginning of a memorable journey at Manchester Academy.

The Academy would like to thank all the teachers and support staff who worked hard to ensure the new Year 7 students felt supported and prepared for life at secondary school. Their dedication made this important first day a positive and inspiring experience for every student.
