A Magic First Step Into Secondary School
Manchester Academy was buzzing with excitement as Year 6 students arrived for another exciting Welcome Day, that got students ready to begin their journey into Year 7. The day started with a warm welcome from the school Principal, Head of Year 7, Transition Lead, and future form tutors.
Our wonderful Year 7 Leaders guided the students to the hall where they were introduced to the Academy and sorted into their new form groups – an exciting moment that brought lots of smiles and new friendships.
A Day of Fun and Friendship
Throughout the day, students got to experience what a school day at Manchester Academy feels like. They moved between lessons just like our current students, enjoying a range of exciting team-building activities and challenges.
Our goal is to help new students build friendships and grow their self-confidence before officially joining us on their First Day in September!
Special Guest Author Visit
In the afternoon, the Academy welcomed Kimberly Whittam, author of the popular book Quiet Storm. Students listened to her story, asked questions about becoming an author, and took part in a poem-writing activity.
Every student was gifted a copy of Quiet Storm inside a special Manchester Academy goodie bag to take home!
Drama, Awards, and Big Smiles
After lunch, our talented Year 10 Drama students performed an exciting scene from Macbeth, with some brave new students joining in on stage.
The day ended with an award ceremony celebrating the star students who followed our MA Way and helped make the day magical.
A Warm Welcome To Parents, Carers, and Families
There was further excitement in the late afternoon when the Academy opened its doors to parents and carers of new students for our Coffee and Cake Evening!
With a brilliant turnout, the families met staff, asked important questions, and got involved with our magic Manchester Academy community!
