Acceptatble use of The Learning Resource Centre
The Learning Resource centre is a part of the Manchester Academy. As such, all the behaviour rules that apply in the Academy apply in LRC. Food and drink must not be brought into the LRC – under any circumstances. Coats, bags and mobile phones must not be brought into the LRC and should be left in your student locker. The LRC is a learning environment in which you can study and read. Talking is permitted, but must be kept at a level that does not cause a disturbance to others.
Loans
At present you can take out up to 2 books for 2 weeks. Books must be issued by a designated member of staff via the computer. Students that remove items from the library that have not been issued in this way, may be subject to the schools disciplinary procedure. Magazines, newspapers and reference items must not be removed from the LRC.
Renewals
Items are renewed at the main desk. You can renew a book if it has not been reserved.
Reserving books
If you would like to reserve a book that is out on loan, you will need to fill in a reservation slip at the main desk. When the book becomes available, you will be notified. Reservation slips can also be used to order books that are not in the library and, if it is suitable, the Librarian may purchase the book.
Returning Items
When returning books, please wait until the person on duty has discharged your books through the computer. If you leave books in the LRC without waiting for them to be discharged the Librarian will think you still have the books, or that you have lost them. In which case, you will not be able to borrow any other items until they have been returned or replaced.
Overdue items
You will not be able to borrow any books until all outstanding items have been returned.
Lost or damaged books
If you lose or damage any books, you may be asked to pay for them before you can be issued with anymore items from the LRC.
Student use of ICT
All students will have been made aware of the rules that apply to ICT usage. If you are found accessing sites that have nothing to do with your homework or course work, you will be asked to log off and leave the LRC. Your details will then be passed on to the ICT department who may decide to withdraw your ICT privileges.
