Top of all Manchester Schools for Progress
Manchester Academy once again out performs all other Manchester Schools!
For the second year running, Manchester Academy is top of all schools in Manchester for the levels of progress students make.
Just over 6 years ago, Manchester Academy took over a school that was at the bottom of all performance tables. Six years on and the academy is:
! Top of all Manchester schools for CVA
! In the nation’s top 100 schools for progress
! Leading the way on Enterprise
What is CVA and what do the numbers mean?
The CVA (Contextualised Value Added) figure is a measure of how well a young person has progressed from taking their Key Stage 2 exams at the end of Year 6 (Primary school) to taking their GCSE/BTEC exams at the end of Year 11 (Secondary School). If a young person performs exactly as expected, the CVA figure is 1000. Scores above 1000 indicate that students have done better than expected. Below 1000 shows that they have not done as well as they should have.
The main purpose of CVA is to measure the relative contribution that a school has made and takes other crucial factors (beyond the school’s control) into account such as KS2 achievement, gender, ethnicity, levels of deprivation, mobility and special education needs.
