Speed Networking Event Gives Year 9 the Inside Track to Success

A diverse range of professionals attended Manchester Academy this week to take part in a networking session aimed at preparing the Year 9 learners for further study, apprenticeship, university and beyond.

Representatives from sectors such as broadcasting, creative and digital media, structural engineering, sport, the military, universities, colleges, healthcare, science and animal care shared details of their personal career journey and job role. They also offered advice and suggestions for the students who are starting to contemplate their own futures as they approach the critical juncture of Year 9 options. 

Throughout the morning, the pupils were engaged, motivated and highly receptive to the ideas and information presented to them. As the sound of thoughtful conversation dipped and the event came to an end, the Year 9s left on a high. The student feedback was universally positive and one Year 9 who had clearly got the day’s message stated,” I want to work hard and become a doctor”.
