Summer Half Term
On Thursday, 22nd December, Year 8 students had a comic book workshop with the wonderful Marvel cartoonist, Kev Sutherland.
On 17th November a group of Year 10 students visited the House of Commons in London for an English workshop and had a question-and-answer session with MP, Lucy Powell.
This academic year, the English Curriculum Area are running a KS3 Reading Club in line with the CILIP Carnegie and Kate Greenaway Medals (the oldest and most prestigious children's book awards).
Thursday 5th March was World Book Day. Students in Years 7, 8 and 9 were given an activity booklet with three 'treasure hunt' style challenges for them to enjoy during break and lunchtime.
Today promises to be the most exciting, fun filled, World Book Day yet here at Manchester Academy.
At the beginning of November 2013, Manchester Academy started a pilot project in collaboration with RM Books: the first e-books solution for students to access books at any time and in any place.

On Tuesday, 9th December, a small group of staff and students were filmed as part of a new and exciting project involving the use of eBooks through RM Books.
Last June, the EAL (English As a second Language) and MFL (Modern Foreign Languages) teams helped pupils from Year 7 to Year 13 to enter a national poetry competition.
Manchester Academy has always attended Manchester Metropolitan University (MMU) events such as campus tours and ‘getting to know the university’ days. These continue today.
