Modern Foreign Languages

The MFL Department is staffed by Mrs C Pérez Ríos, Ms J Watt and Ms S Baksh.  At present students study Spanish and German at Key Stage 3 for two hours over the fortnightly timetable. 

This year the Department saw some fantastic Year 11 German results with all students achieving a grade A or B in their GCSE.

The Department boasts a range of technology including interactive whiteboards and various software programmes to enhance learning and make it more fun for students to learn. 

In April 2009, Year 10 GCSE Spanish students went  to Asturias in Northern Spain for three days. The purpose of the trip was for students to experience Spanish language and culture first hand and to be put in real life situations where they would have to use their Spanish. The trip was a huge success and one which we wish to repeat with a view to widening this out to include a trip to Germany this year.
