Curriculum
'The outstanding curriculum is very much tailored to the needs and learning styles of the students.' [Ofsted 2009]
The curriculum is broad and balanced and supports the Academy aim, by offering the students a wide range of subjects and opportunities, to enable them to make the most of their abilities and to develop their interests as widely as possible.
As an Academy we have a responsibility to meet the needs of our deeply complex learner profile through an ICT supported, differentiated and personalised curriculum across the 11-18 range. This includes a range of partners whose
contributions are calibrated to students needs and outcomes. It is through these curriculum innovations that we will address the five outcomes of Every Child Matters and promote the United Learning Trust's vision of ‘quality, value and outperformance.’
A personalised options process has been adopted at KS4 allowing students to study a range of subjects and courses that enable them to reach their full potential. A host of subjects and courses with different levels and assessment methods will be offered to compliment the strength of our students. Courses made available to our students include BTECs at Entry level, Level 1, Level 2 and Level 3.
Off site provision will consist of the continued partnership between Manchester Academy and East Manchester Vocational Centre to deliver construction courses.
Our students are all individuals with different needs and it is our role to meet these needs through the curriculum, teaching and learning and assessment.
