The Duke of Edinburgh Award
The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award is in its 4th successful year at Manchester Academy, with 13 Year 11 students embarking on their Silver Award, and 32 Year 10 students aiming to achieve their Bronze Award this year.
Training for the Award takes place throughout the year, including a weekend at Ghyll Head OEC, in preparation for the final expeditions in the summer term.
Students complete volunteering activities each week for 3 – 6 months, learn a new skill, and also participate in a physical activity in order to gain the prestigious Award.
