The Duke of Edinburgh Award
The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award is in its 4th successful year at Manchester Academy, with 9 students embarking on their Silver Award, and 48 students aiming to achieve their Bronze Award this year.
Training for the Award takes place throughout the year, including a weekend at Ghyll Head OEC, in preparation for the final expeditions in the summer term.
Students complete volunteering activities each week for 3 – 6 months, learn a new skill, and also participate in a physical activity in order to gain the prestigious Award.
