Resistant Materials: Hyde Group 'Make It' Enterprising Challenge

On Tuesday, 5^th October, 2010, a group of Manchester Academy students joined pupils from other schools within the Greater Manchester region to take part in the Hyde Group Make It in Aerospace Enterprising Schools Challenge.

The teams began by setting up small businesses with great gusto, selecting  job roles, customer groups and then creating, marketing and selling their multi-functional, unmanned rescue vehicles to a team of ‘Dragons’ from the Hyde Group.

In keenly contested round, Manchester Academy put in a valiant effort, but it was not enough to emerge victorious so congratulations to Longdendale Community Language College of Hollingworth, Hyde who were the deserved winners and secured a place at the regional Make It in Aerospace Challenge final next summer.

The event was a collaboration between The Manufacturing Institute, the Hyde Group and the North West Aerospace Alliance [NWAA] and is part of a special series of aerospace themed Make It challenges which the NWAA are supporting to encourage young people to consider careers in aerospace.
