Support and Guidance
The 6th Form is directed by Ms. Golding along with Tutors who are each responsible for a group of students from Year 12 and 13.
Our 6th Form Administrator, Ms. Thompson will help with any queries including Education Maintenance Allowance [EMA] related questions.
Form Tutors
The 6th Form Tutor is the first point of contact for the students. They work with the student throughout his/her time at the academy.
The role of the tutor is to provide students with support and guidance by:
- monitoring academic progress
- providing pastoral support
- monitoring attendance and punctuality
- supporting the development of independent study skills
- undertaking regular review and target setting
- assisting students with HE/employment applications
- ensuring students secure appropriate work experience placements
- guiding students through sixth form enrichment activities and graduation
Each student has an individual tutorial with his/her tutor every two weeks. These tutorials are scheduled so that we can monitor the academic and pastoral needs of each student. The system is very successful in identifying and supporting problems at an early stage. Tutorials are used to review academic progress, attendance and to discuss any barriers to success.
