Care at the Academy
Here in the Sixth Form we pride ourselves on the care and support given to the students. Students benefit from a strong Pastoral Team and can be further supported by the School Counsellor or Nurse.
Manchester Academy is proactive in raising awareness of bullying and becoming involved in anti-bullying projects.
Personal Security
Upon enrolment, each student at Manchester Academy is issued a free swipe card bearing a photograph. This swipe card serves not only as a personal ID but also as a ‘key’ to open certain doors in the building. It should be worn at all times and should be clearly visible at all times, and if lost must be replaced, for which there is a charge of £2.50.
Valuables
As young adults it is the student’s responsibility to take care of money and valuables. Manchester Academy cannot accept responsibility for any loss of students’ possessions. Students are therefore recommended to bring only that which is absolutely necessary. In particular, large sums of money, expensive jewellery and mobile phones should be left at home.
6th Form Council
Each year the 6th Form elect their own council to represent their views and to undertake additional responsibilities. Elections take place in October and all students contribute to the voting.
