Saudi Visitors
On December 3rd 2009, Manchester Academy played host to 15 delegates from The Ministry of Education in Saudi Arabia who visited the UK to study the British education system.
They were based at The University of Manchester with Professor Bill Boyle, an authority on educational assessment.
As a result of Manchester Academy's close links with the university's School of Education, we provided our Saudi guests with a taste of a working day in an Outstanding UK school.
Having been on a tour of Manchester Academy and visited some lessons, our guests held a Q&A session with Mr Rathbone and Mrs Langley as well as having tea with Mrs Nightingale. Joining them were also two Saudi students who attend the Academy, in order to swap stories about life and school in our respective countries.
Manchester Academy was presented with a glass ornament bearing the crest of the Ministry of Education in Saudi Arabia to thank us for our hospitality – as the Saudi delegation and Professor Boyle were very impressed with our students, teachers and building. A second delegation will visit in January 2010!
