International Trading with Ecuador
By Katherine Franche, Year 8
Ms Rashid holds a Business & Enterprise club on Wednesdays after school where a group of Manchester Academy years 8’s have been working on setting up a company to trade with a school all the way in Quito, which is the capital of Ecuador in South America.
The Year 8’s decided to call the Company “Team Traders” for obvious reasons. Team Traders are happy that they have a chance to trade with Ecuador and have a chance to build long lasting friendships with the pupils in Quito, Ecuador. Team Traders are happy to do this club as they are learning new business skills and because Ms Rashid is an ICT teacher they are learning ICT skills as well.
Team traders are in contact with the school in Ecuador weekly, by emailing them and have sent some emails in Spanish. This is very exciting for the traders as we are trading with a school half way across the world. Learning about the pupils and their country will be part of building the Business relationship with the school. Team Traders will be selling Manchester United souvenirs to the pupils of Ecuador. They will (which we also excited about) be selling jewellery made from a special leather that they have in Ecuador. Catalogue will be available as soon as it is uploaded to the international trading website.
The friendship will open doors for us at Manchester Academy. The friendship is going to be amazing as we could be pen pals for life. This experience of setting up a company, talking to an international school and in another language is something which will look good on our C.V.’s..
