Lego Challenge
On Wednesday 25th November 2009, the ULT Academies once again gathered together for the annual battle to be crowned ‘ULT Enterprise Challenge Winners’.
Manchester Academy, the reigning champions from 2008 were eager to maintain their title at the 2009 Lego Challenge hosted by Lambeth Academy.
Competition was fierce, with students representing 10 ULT Academies from across the country. Teams made up of four Year 9 students had to create tractors and aeroplanes from Lego, and then put their bargaining and sales skills to the test in order to make a profit. To tantalize the creative members of the team, they were able to capitalize on their profits by producing a weird and wonderful world of machinery from the ‘scrap heap’ of Lego left at the end.

The crown was finally awarded to Accrington Academy who had wowed everyone with their persuasive sales pitch, leaving Paddington Academy and Manchester Academy bringing up the rear; however, Accrington Academy beware, Manchester Academy are determined to regain their status by winning the 2010 title – watch this space!
