Iain Wright MP Visits Pinsent Masons

Iain Wright MP, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State in the Department for Children, Schools and Families visited Manchester this week to recognise the important relationship between business and education. 

The visit was to learn more about the partnership between Pinsent Masons and Manchester Academy, the 2009 recipients of the Business in the Community Example of Excellence – Bank of America Merrill Lynch Education Award. The award was given for the partnerships’ numeracy and literacy support programmes and career-orientated mentoring programme.

During the visit, the Minister took part in a feedback session with Jane Delfino, Director of Enterprise and Internationalism at Manchester Academy, Pinsent Masons employee volunteers and several Manchester Academy students. The Minister heard about the impact of, and benefits achieved by, the partnership.

The session was relaxed and informative. Iain Wright, MP also heard about the other business partnerships of Manchester Academy. He invited students for a cup of tea at the House of Commons and expressed an interest in visiting Manchester Academy.
