Silicon Valley Comes to the UK

Manchester Academy was invited to take part in the launch of idiscover at the NESTA offices in London on Wednesday November 18^th 2009.

Miss Peate and five Year 11 students took part in the event, where they mapped their career paths, and listened to the inspirational Reid Hoffman, founder of LinkedIn. He was keen to share his advice on how to be extremely successful as an entrepreneur and become rich! 

The students from Manchester Academy were filmed explaining their future career plans for a local TV company, and later took part in a feedback session for the inventor of a ‘personal finance’ game.

They truly entered into the spirit of the game, which captured their interest by its competitive focus whilst also learning about how to manage a budget in today’s global climate. They were able to offer really perceptive ideas for improvement in order for it to become a really successful product to be used in schools.
