Marvellous Manchester Internationally Showcases Best Business

A group of 8 Manchester Academy students from Year 7, Year 8, and Year 9 have joined with eight Year 6 students from Rolls Crescent Primary School to film 'Marvellous Manchester'.

The project was designed to showcase businesses in Manchester and to highlight the fantastic opportunities for work, leisure and tourism available in the city.

The collaboration with Manchester CLC has enabled students from both schools to be trained in filming and editing techniques, and the finished product will create a fantastic resource to share with Nynashamn Gymnasium, one of our partner schools in Sweden. In return, the students from Nynashamn Gymnasium will create promotional materials about Nynashamn raising international awareness of work, leisure and tourism opportunities for people all over the world.

The Marvellous Manchester students have filmed in a variety of locations, including being invited to the local ASDA superstore to see a national company in action. They were also wowed by the technological equipment used and marketed by the ANS Group and Godel Technologies based at Manchester Science Parks, where students were able to speak to their partner companies in Minsk using the technology.

Hulme Community Garden Centre also welcomed the students to their oasis of tranquillity so that students were able to experience a totally unexpected working environment just around the corner from both schools.

Students were excited to see the vast array of working opportunities which are available right on their doorstep, and visits to the brand new NHS hospital buildings confirmed that Manchester is indeed a ‘marvellous’ place to live and work.
