Business in the Community Awards
Manchester Academy and Pinsent Masons received the Bank of America Merrill Lynch Education Award at the Business in the Community Awards dinner.
Manchester Academy and Pinsent Masons received the Big Tick award in recognition of the outstanding partnership work that is undertaken for the young people of Manchester Academy. The partnership runs two programmes:
ú A career and business orientated programme
ú Literacy and numeracy mentoring
At the same event Jane Delfino, Director of Enterprise and Internationalism at Manchester Academy received the for ‘an individual based in the community, who has best collaborated with business to benefit society’.
Business in the Community nominated this partnership for a national award and on July 6, 2009 Manchester Academy and Pinsent Masons were announced the winners of the national Bank of America Merrill Lynch Award at a reception held at Clarence House and hosted by Prince Charles.
This was the first time that the partnership has entered this competition and were delighted to have done so well. The competition was mightily impressive while up against established names like Coca Cola, Kraft Foods, Standard Life, UBS and Yorkshire Water.
