Of Law, Lunch and Learning
On Tuesday, 24th February, 2009, Cobbetts law firm played host to 15 of our year 9 students. The day was part of the unique Fit 4 Business programme that Cobbetts offers our students.
The day began with a visit to the courts. We sat in on a murder trial that was fascinating and emotional. We were privileged to be able to interview the judge who was presiding on the case.
On our return to Cobbetts we sat down to a spectacular business lunch. It’s amazing how many sandwiches year 9 boys can eat. After lunch we had a tour of the fantastic offices and were introduced to the staff of the many departments that make up Cobbetts.
On our next visit the students will be shadowing staff in a department of their choice. It is interesting to note that although Cobbetts ‘sells law’ there are many other career paths available for young people in this prestigious company.
So we may be ‘growing lawyers’ but we could equally be developing future chefs, receptionists, IT specialists and legal secretaries. A massive thanks goes to Cobbetts for their fabulous organization and wonderful day.
