The University of Salford is looking forward to developing an exciting partnership with Manchester Academy in September 2007.

Sixth Form students will have the opportunity to meet and be taught by Salford University students to gain an ASDAN Universities Award.

• Admission tutors at universities are interested in academic and vocational qualifications, but they also take into account personal qualities and interests when recruiting for courses.

• Many students nationwide have found that completing this award has provided them with additional skills and information to include in their UCAS applications to universities.

• This programme will not only give Manchester Academy Sixth Form students the chance to gain this award but it will also provide them with an opportunity to explore the work that current students are undertaking on their university courses.

• Each sixth form student will be assigned a University student mentor and will become part of an e-mentoring scheme to develop their learning even further on an individual needs basis, aspiration and attainment as part of their work to widen participation among groups who are currently under-represented in the student population.

• The programme is supported by Aimhigher Greater Manchester, a national campaign to encourage more people to go on to higher education.
