Support & Guidance

Moving on to the Academy has a specialised team of (and access to) career advisors that are available to you.

You can speak with one of the team members before you start college or during your course at any time, as well as seeking advice on entry to university and job applications.

If you are unsure about what you want to do, want advice on your current course, want guidance on your future plans, or simply just want some reassurance that you are going in the right direction... the team of advisors is here for you.

Learning Support

Manchester Academy offers timetabled lessons of additional support for students who would benefit from supplementary learning outside their main subject area.

This additional support could be advice on organising your work more effectively, advice on coursework or an essay, one-on-one mentoring or specialised advised for students with specific learning needs.

Staff recognise that students have their own needs, in addition to course needs, and staff want to enhance the Sixth Form experience for all students, whilst making learning for everyone as enjoyable as possible.

This is your first point of contact for general enquiries and further information, based in the Sixth Form Office: 0161 232 1639 Ext 2092. Sixth Form Services is friendly, accessible and will be able to point you in the right direction.

Financial Assistance 

If you are worried about money and want to stay in education then assistance is available. You may be eligible for an EDUCATION MAINTENANCE ALLOWANCE (EMA). It is a weekly payment worth up to £30 for students who are aged 16 and planning to continue in further education on courses such as AS / A2, NVQs, BTECs and GCSEs.
