Manchester Academy Internet Filtering

- At Manchester Academy we take the internet content filtering very seriously. To protect our students there are two levels of filtering employed.
- The first level is deployed and managed on site by the ICT Services Department, all known inappropriate content is filtered dynamically at this level.
- On top of that is the filtering employed by our Internet Service Provider, the Manchester Educational Wide Area Network (MEWAN).
- This second level of filtering offers extra safeguards against students accessing inappropriate materials.

- Whilst no filtering system can be 100% secure, we make every effort to ensure the safety of students accessing the internet.
- This includes weekly spot checks on student internet activity and action is taken if any indiscretions are discovered.
- All students and parents are required to sign our 'Acceptable Use' policy which states that students are responsible for any content they access on the internet.
