Modern Foreign Language Department

The Modern Foreign Language Department is staffed by Ms C Smedley and Ms L Miller. At present students study Spanish and German at Key Stage 3 for one hour each per week.  German is in its first year and Ms Miller is working hard to promote German in the curriculum.

To enable pupils to access German in the curriculum we have employed a Foreign Language Assistant Florian Fikter to work with lower school pupils with their spoken German.

As from September 2006 we will see the introduction of French as a third language to Year 7 pupils. Hopefully this like German will prove to be a huge success.

The Department boasts a range of technology including interactive whiteboards in every teaching room and an interactive Language Laboratory for students to work independently.

Spanish GCSE results were the best ever in 2005 with 90% of students entered achieving a grade C or above.
