Registration and Absence

Students are registered at 8:30 am and 2:50 pm every day. If they fail to report for Registration, they do not get a mark. It is essential that they arrive on time.

If a student is absent from school:

  • Their absence must be accounted for with a letter from home. If you know your child is to be absent, please send a letter in advance or write a note in the Student Planner. The House Tutor should countersign this note in the Student Planner.
  • If he/she will be absent that morning, please telephone 0161 232 1639, then select Option 1 and leave a message explaining the reason for absence with a member of the Student Services Team.
  • If we have not heard from you, the school will contact you either by:
o Personal telephone call - Please notify us if telephone number has changed.
    o Letter Home.
o Home visit - By the School Attendance Improvement Service.
*
  • Your child should also be given a note, on return to school, explaining or confirming the reason for their absence.
  • We expect that holidays are taken during the time when school is closed. Holidays taken during term time are not a right or an entitlement and permission from the Principal will be needed.
*
  • If your child becomes ill, during school time, you will be contacted and asked to collect her/him. Under no circumstances is any child allowed to leave school without permission.
  • A signing-out procedure is in operation for students who have a genuine reason to leave school during the school day (medical appointments, dentist etc).
  • A note from the parents should be sent with the student explaining the reason for leaving school.
  • If you need to take your child out of school during the working day, please let us know in advance.

Students do not always have the same Teacher Training days as their brothers / sisters / friends in other schools. you will receive information and reminders about key dates.
