National Year of Reading 2008

What is the National Year of Reading?
The 2008 National Year of Reading (NYR) is a year-long national celebration of reading. It aims to help build a passion for reading in England for children, families and adults so that reading and literacy are recognised as being important to the success of our country, local communities, schools, individual opportunity and personal success.
The 2008 National Year of Reading is not just about books, but is a celebration of words in every form whether spoken, sung or written. It's all about the power of words to move us, to change lives, to divert and delight us.
