Students Shine in Glittering Awards Ceremony

On Thursday, 5th June, five Year Eight students attended BBC Oxford Road Studios for a special awards ceremony. The ceremony was a celebration of the involvement of students across the country in the highly prestigious BBC School Report project.
- Manchester Academy has been involved in the project from its beginning in 2007. This year over 280 schools took part.

- Schools from as far as the Wirral attended the ceremony which
was held in the studio mainly used by the BBC Northwest symphony
orchestra.
Film clips featuring all the schools in attendance were shown to rapturous applause.

- North West news reporters Ranvir Singh and Gordon Burns were
the main hosts on the day but were ably assisted by our very own
Faizan.
Faizan was a natural and his slick professional style was commented on by many BBC staff including Ranvir and Gordon who jokingly stated they feared for their jobs!

- Our news team was presented with a framed certificate and
afterwards there was plenty of photo opportunities with the BBC
co-presenters - and of course Faizan - who was in great
demand!
The students each received a 'goodie bag' which included the much sought after BBC mug.
This year's project proved a success and the Academy will certainly be taking part in next year's news day in March 2009.
