Spiced Fish

Following on from all the positive feedback we've received regarding our "ethnic cuisine" features, once more we attempt to tempt. This time indulge yourselves with spiced fish and Falooda! Thanks to Aliyah for all the great recipes.

Ingredients:

  • 2 lbs cod fish
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 lemon
  • ˝ cup oil
  • 2 chopped onions
 
  • ˝ cup yoghurt
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic and ginger paste
  • Chopped coriander leaves
  • 2 chopped tomatoes

Spices:

  • 2 teaspoon coriander powder
  • ˝ teaspoon paprika
  • ˝ teaspoon turmeric powder
  • ˝ teaspoon cumin powder
  • ˝ red pepper flakes
  • 1 teaspoon chilli powder

Spiced Fish

Method:

  • Cut the fish into ˝ inch cubes.
  • Rub with lemon juice and salt.
  • Keep for half hour and deep fry to golden colour, drain and keep warm.
  • In a separate wok sauté the onion in 1 tsp oil for 10 minutes.
  • Drain the oil and add yogurt to the onions.
  • Puree in the blender and return to the wok and stir for 3 minutes in medium heat.
  • Add the ginger garlic paste.
  • When this turns brown add the tomatoes and the spices, stirring until thickened.
  • Put the fish, cover, simmer for 2 minutes and garnish.
