University Beckons Academy Students

On Thursday 6th September, 2007, thirty new Sixth Form students from Manchester Academy got the chance to spend the afternoon at Salford University.
The trip, organised by Sarah Walsh [Director of Sixth Form at Manchester Academ] was to encourage them to find out at an early stage what studying at University is all about.
During their visit, lecturers and students gave the new "Academicians" an insight into all aspects of university life.

The students who in total represent more than 20 countries were more than impressed by what they saw.
Dopo from Nigeria said "Salford University is fantastic; I never knew there were so many different subjects."
Hannah from Gambia said "The whole event was useful the university is amazing, I want to work hard study science somewhere like that".
She also had some good words to say about the her new college, "the Sixth form is very good for study the staff are so friendly and so nice, they help you find your way around which is what you need in the first week or two."
Kamra, also new to the college was really impressed by the Sixth Form. He said, "coming from another school in Manchester I was amazed by the difference - it is so good and really modern. The IT here is amazing."

However it would not be sixth form without the odd moan and quibble with many of the students complaining that it was too hot yesterday. Where have they been all summer!
