A day at the Zion Centre

A day at the Zion Centre

On the 6th of November several students from Manchester Academy visited the Zion Centre in Hulme.

Along with the school librarian, Miss Culpeper, and another member of staff, the students took part in reading and recording the Mosscare leaflet.

The leaflet provides information on what's going on in Greater Manchester and also includes reports on local activities and so on.

It is of vital importance to create a spoken version of the leaflet.

It helps the elderly and people who are visually impaired or have reading difficulties to access the important information that the Mosscare leaflet provides.

The Zion Centre makes a point of working alongside local schools, and for the past few years Manchester Academy pupils have been involved.

During the visit, the students took time out of the project to have a look around the building and find out just exactly what the Zion Centre is.

They spoke to the receptionist who described the Zion Centre as being "half charity and half business." This project is one of several to help the elderly that the centre runs.

All the students who attended enjoyed the trip, and look forward to hearing the final product.
