The Next Big Thing
Enterprise Week was now in full swing..
- The joint Forces day for the Year 11s; a delegation from the Year 10s at the Institute of Directors event "The Next Big Thing" and the launch of "The Young International Trader" for the Year 11s.

- "The Next Big Thing" event was an opportunity for some of our year 10s to meet with young entrepreneurs and gain an insight into how a business is successfully started up.
- They were amongst 500 students from schools and colleges across the North West who were invited by the Institute of Directors to the event at the Printworks.
- The highlight of the day was a talk given by Ruth Badger, runner-up of the BBC's "The Apprentice" show.

- Back at the Academy, some of our students welcomed representatives from HSBC and the launch of the "Young International Trader" course.
- This was a day-long event which involved students working with staff from HSBC and Mr Gallagher, our Business Studies teacher to begin the first of a series of modules.

- The "Young International Trader" is an exciting course which gives students an insight into financial skills and careers.
- In January the group will be visiting HSBC's offices in King Street for a behind-the-scenes tour.

- And as for the Forces, well they were whipping the Year 11s
into shape - some of whom were surprising themselves on just how
high they could get up the mobile climbing wall!
