THE UNITED LEARNING TRUST

The United Learning Trust manages a number of Academies spread across the country. ULT is a subsidiary charity of the not-for-profit charity, the United Church Schools Trust (UCST), and shares with it the objective of managing schools which offer students a good education, based on Christian principles of service and tolerance.

The Church Schools Company was founded in 1883 and now manages 8 highly successful independent schools.

ULT is currently involved in the development of other Academies. Working together in a group has significant benefits for teachers, students and parents/carers. This feature of the Academies within the ULT, together with the long experience in high quality education brought by the Church Schools Company, makes this sponsorship unique in the country.

UNITED CHURCH SCHOOLS TRUST

The United Church Schools Trust was founded as an educational charity in 1883 with the principal objective of creating schools that would offer pupils a good academic education based on Christian principles of service and tolerance, with particular reference to the Church of England.

Whilst the Christian faith will be the starting point and the central focus for the ethos of the Trust and the Academy, the beliefs and practices of other faiths will be valued and respected. It is hoped that parents and pupils of all faiths will find the Academy a welcoming community.

As a result of dialogue with the Government, the Company was introduced to the 'City Academy' initiative as a route for best practice using their energy and schools' experience to help the educational development of children. The challenge is to combine the very best of the private sector with the needs of inner city schools. The Company is committed to raising standards and breaking down barriers by sponsoring and managing a group of Academies within its new subsidiary charity, the United Learning Trust
