Best Value Added Education in Manchester
For the second year running, Manchester Academy is top of all schools in Manchester for the levels of progress students make. Just over 6 years ago, Manchester Academy took over a school that was at the bottom of all performance tables. Six years on and the academy is:
- Top of all Manchester schools for CVA
- In the nation’s top 100 schools for progress
- Judged ‘Outstanding’ by Ofsted, 2009
- Leading the way on Enterprise
What is CVA and what do all the numbers mean?
The main purpose of CVA (Contextualized Value Added) is to measure the contribution a school makes to a child’s progress. It takes important factors such as gender, ethnicity, levels of deprivation, mobility and special education needs into consideration.
Scores above 1000 indicate that students have done better than expected. As you can see above, students at Manchester Academy make more progress than in other Manchester secondary school!
